EASTER WITH BUSAYO
Dear Beautiful Souls,
I always notice how everything starts to feel a little softer around this time of year.
The light changes, the air feels different, and I start reaching for pieces that feel easy again, nothing too heavy, nothing too complicated.
That’s how I’ve been thinking about the Wura, Kunmi, and Ajala dresses lately.
They all come from the same place, hand-dyed in Nigeria using traditional techniques, but each one feels a little different. Wura has that almost watercolor feeling, where the colors blend into each other. Kunmi feels a bit more structured, with the smocking and shape. And Ajala is just easy… light, airy, the kind of dress you don’t have to think twice about.
I’ve been drawn to color more than usual too, maybe it’s the season. Everything feels brighter, more open, like you can start again in small ways.
I imagine these dresses on Easter morning, or just any day that feels like a reset. Something you put on when you want to feel fresh without trying too hard.
As always, they begin in Nigeria with the artisans who make the fabric by hand. I think about that a lot, how something so carefully made becomes part of someone else’s everyday life.
That’s still my favorite part.
With love,
Busayo
