Temidire Dress at the MOMA

Dear Beautiful Souls,

It’s always such a joy to share what we’re loving right now. One of our absolute favorite films at the moment, In My Father’s Shadow just won Best Debut Feature at BAFTAs !!! The film is the acclaimed feature debut from award-winning filmmaker Akinola Davies Jr., capturing a tender day in the life of a father and his two sons against the backdrop of Nigeria’s pivotal 1993 political landscape. Congratulations to the brilliant Akinola and the entire team.

The incredible folks at Art Noire and friends of the brand, Ebele Okobi asked us to moderate the post screening talkback conversation at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City during the My Father’s Shadow screening and Q&A, presented by the Black Arts Council.

After the film, Busayo herself stepped out in this beautiful dress to moderate and guide the conversation and celebrate a moment that was as heartfelt as the movie itself.

That evening’s conversation was thoughtfully structured around three Yoruba concepts: Ilé (home/land), Iṣẹ́ (work), and fatherhood. The discussion explored identity, creative process, and the complexity of Nigerian and Yoruba fatherhood — challenging the often one-dimensional perception of the disciplinarian father and instead humanizing him as charismatic, vulnerable, loving, and flawed.

The Temidire mirrored that same nuance. Rooted in tradition yet modern in form, it carries depth without distraction. It allows the wearer  to lead the room — whether moderating a cultural conversation, attending an art opening, or gathering for an intimate dinner.

Temidire Striped Crocheted Cotton Maxi Dress from The Fall 2025 Collection. The Temidire really is special, the fabrication is hand woven on loom, with a textural technique called Ja Owu, this piece is an embodiment of relaxed elegance and intentional design, perfect for wherever your story takes you next.

By the way, In My Fathers Shadow is playing at theatres throughout the U.S., set in vibrant Lagos and rich with emotion, the film is both a celebration of family bonds and a meditation on memory, love, and legacy — all themes that resonate deeply with how we approach every piece in The Collection. Whether you’re at an art opening, a wedding reception  or a sunset dinner, the Temidire dress is made to move with you — carrying grace, texture, and story.

With Joy always,

Busayo
